Of course, there were pretty kimonos everywhere.
When you first enter a shrine, you're supposed to purify yourself by pouring water on your hands. Your also supposed to swish some of the water around in your mouth but that's not very appealling...
These are charms that you can write your wish on the back of. The shrine maidens will pray that your wish comes true.
We then got very lucky as we were able to see a bride and groom go by. It must be considered very lucky to be married at the shrine of love.
The Bride was so pretty!
As you can see on the bride's right side her mother is holding her hand. This is a custom.
So pretty!
I took a video as they walked by. Sorry, you may have to turn your head. I didn't realize it would be on the side...
You may recognize these. When you get your fortune, and it's bad, you tie it on a tree branch in the hopes that it will go away.
And finally we were eghausted and it was time to go home. But we thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Kyoto.
Sayonara!
